About us
Eskdalemuir Active Travel Hub is a community-led initiative working to improve access to walking, wheeling, and cycling across rural Dumfries and Galloway.
Building on the Eskdalemuir Local Active Travel Action Plan (2025), we aim to create an inclusive, sustainable network that helps residents and visitors travel actively and explore the area.
Through community activities and an affordable bike and e-bike hire scheme, we support local access to active travel, encourage community-led tourism, and generate income. This will help sustain and grow active travel opportunities in Eskdalemuir for the long-term.
E-bike hire
Our community bike and e-bike hire scheme provides affordable access to e-bikes and adaptive cycles for local residents and visitors.
The service helps people try cycling before buying their own bike, supports low-income households, and offers a practical and sustainable transport option for getting around the area.
Using a dual pricing model, including an annual membership option, the scheme keeps community access at its heart , while also welcoming responsible tourism. By making cycling more accessible, we aim to encourage active travel, reduce reliance on cars, and help more people enjoy exploring Eskdalemuir and its surrounding landscapes by bikes.
